WHAT IT HELPS WITH
Go after the cause, not just the tension
If pain is running your day, this is the work that goes after the cause. Deep tissue massage uses firm, focused pressure to reach the muscle and connective tissue below the surface. Neuromuscular therapy takes it a step further and targets the specific tight spots, often called trigger points, that send pain to other places in your body. Together they're two of the most effective hands-on ways to deal with real, ongoing pain.
WHO BOOKS IT
For the tightness that keeps slowing you down
People come to us for lower back pain, neck and shoulder tension, sciatica-type pain, tension headaches, stiff limited movement, sports and workout recovery, and the everyday tightness that comes from desk work, long commutes up I-65, and hauling kids to Thompson practice. If a muscle issue is slowing you down, this is the work that helps.

A quick care note
This is therapeutic massage, not a medical treatment. If you're pregnant, or you have a condition like a blood-clotting disorder or osteoporosis, check with your doctor first, and let your therapist know so they can adjust.

COMPLETELY CUSTOMIZED
Firm, but never “grit your teeth”
"Deep" does not mean "as hard as humanly possible." Your therapist matches the pressure to your body and what you can handle that day, and they check in as they go. A good session should feel like the "good hurt" that releases tension, not something you have to white-knuckle through. If it's ever too much, say so, and they'll ease off.
- Pressure matched to your body
- Check-ins throughout the session
- You stay in control at every point

YOUR SESSION
What to expect on your first visit
You'll start by pointing out your problem areas. During the session you may feel firm pressure and a "good hurt" on the tight spots, and you're always in control, so speak up if it's too much. Afterward, drink some water and take it easy. A little soreness the next day is normal, a lot like the day after a good workout, and it usually fades within a day or two.

GOOD TO KNOW
Deep tissue massage FAQs
Clear answers about pressure, soreness, and what this work can feel like.
Does deep tissue massage hurt?
It can feel intense on tight spots, what a lot of people call a "good hurt," but it should never be unbearable. Your therapist works with your body, not against it, so if it crosses into sharp or bad pain, tell them and they'll back off.
What's the difference between deep tissue and a regular (Swedish) massage?
A Swedish or relaxation massage uses lighter, flowing strokes to help you unwind. Deep tissue uses firmer, more focused pressure to reach deeper muscle and go after pain and knots.
What if the pressure is too much during my session?
Just say something. You're always in control of the pressure, and a good therapist would rather adjust than have you tense up. Speaking up is part of getting the most out of it.
Can it help my chronic back pain or sciatica?
A lot of clients get real relief from muscle-related back pain and sciatica-type tightness. If you have a diagnosed condition, it works best alongside your doctor's care.
Will I be sore afterward, and for how long?
Mild soreness for a day or so is normal, especially after your first deep tissue session. It usually fades within a day or two. Drinking water and moving gently helps.
